Dave Allen
(Our Founder)
'Hi there'
I'll see you at the next rally
- Dave, who founded PACE back in 1990 with three Miata's, was
president of the club for five years until turning over the reins
to Bob Bookwalter. He remains active in the club, though his
interests have turned to autocrossing.
- Dave prefers to be nicknamed "Big Blue" or "BB Miata".
- In addition to his Pace and autocross activities, Dave, who is a
field service engineer, also enjoys bowling, golf and just riding
around and having fun.
- His steed is a 1990 Mariner blue (with white racing stripes) 'C'
package which he purchased new.
- There's a long list of after-market improvements that he has installed
in 'Big-Blue'. There's an even longer list of improvements and
accessories that he has installed in various Pace member's cars.
- Among the 'Big-Blue' custom improvements are:
- Leather seats
- Door panels
- Upgraded headrest speakers
- Racing Torsion bars
- 4-way adsjustable Koni shocks
- 'Z' rated tires
- Jackson exhaust header
- Ram Air Induction
- Free flow exhaust
- Bolla muffler and tip
- Overhead lighted mirror
- Upgraded radio
- 9S racing stripes
- Hard dog roll bar
- Air horns
- Front and rear air dams
- Trailer towing bar
- Wheel cowlings front and rear
- Leather shift boot
- Dave is thinking of getting an engine supercharger.
- Dave's main concern with his mount is not enough horsepower.
- For the sharp eyed viewer who spotted Dave's 'ghost' in the
hood of his car, yes, it's haunted. Dave has put so much time and
effort into his car that it's become his alter-ego (shades of the
movie "Christine").
- Late breaking news - Dave has recently bought a 1999 Miata (red). He
still has 'Big-Blue' and he intends to keep both cars. He says that
he's going to keep the blue in racing trim (he's planning on putting
a supercharger in it this spring), and he'll use the red for day-t0-day
running around.
